5th June 2023: we were treated to a guided tour of the Lufthansa Technik Malta facility where CEO John Mahon, one of the IBN Board Members, explained Lufthansa Technik's significant role in the global aviation industry and where the Malta facility fits within their portfolio. The 600 strong workforce in #Malta manages an array of inspection, maintenance and repair work on a range of wide and narrow body planes not just for the Lufthansa fleet, but for the industry as a whole.
John explained the maintenance regime in the air industry and how regulatory and compliance controls are in place to ensure quality and safety of work is ensured.
Lufthansa Technik Malta is a significant contributor to the Maltese economy and a provider of high skilled employment locally. John also spoke of the great work and collaboration they have with MCAST to ensure that there is a local pipeline of skilled technicians for the future.

On 20th March 2023, the IBN Board had the pleasure of meeting a delegation from Ireland led by Ceann Comchairle Hon. Seán Ó Fearghaíl, Ms Jill Gray, TD Mr Padraig O'Sullivan, TD Ms Kathleen Funchion TD, Senator Ronan Mullen and Ms Eileen Lawler. The group discussed Irish Maltese relations, the function of the IBN in Malta, the Maltese educational system, maritime and financial industries.
